Abstract

Groin injuries are a major problem in sports medicine. A patient's history and characteristics of groin pain must be analyzed; correct diagnosis is vital in order to provide the correct treatment. Ultrasound and/or MRI may be necessary for correct diagnosis. Muscle and tendon problems are common groin pain causes. Hernia is probably more common than was thought in this field. Herniography can be very helpful in diagnosing non-palpable hernia. Osteitis pubis is a self-limiting condition. Other causes of groin pain include stress fractures, hip damage, oursitis, nerve entrapment, infection, and inflammatory conditions. This issue of Sports Medicine Arthroscopy Review deals with the management of these conditions and shows the importance of a multidisciplinary approach for accurate treatment and diagnosis.
